iStar Youth in the Arts is a non-profit, community based program designed for positive youth development through the pursuit of excellence in the performing arts. It is the process one learns to achieve excellence that is KEY. A young person who learns, discovers, and most importantly, experiences the path to excellence can apply these skills to the ambition of their choosing. Education, family, relationships, job interview, career, community service...it applies.

Cast members at iStar learn skills in drumming, dancing and performing. But what we are really giving them are the tools to live a productive and inspired life. We believe that, through arts education, the development of a young person’s self-confidence, the building of skills, and the discovery of their ability to create, will open windows of opportunity and instill in them the excitement that comes when you have a dream and realize that you actually have the ability to achieve it.
