iStar Youth in the Arts is a Mississauga based non-profit youth organization affiliated with the City of Mississauga. iStar is a member of the Mississauga Arts Council. We have been proudly serving the youth of Mississauga for 25 years.
iStar is dedicated to supporting the development of young people through excellence in the performing arts. Our youth programs emphasize teamwork, fun, achievement, work ethic, leadership, and skills for a lifetime. Students learn to combine practical, theoretical, and performance skills to develop their own unique voice as performers and as people.
Cast members at iStar learn skills in drumming, dancing and performing. But what we are really giving them are the tools to live a productive and inspired life. We believe that, through arts education, the development of a young person’s self-confidence, the building of skills, and the discovery of their ability to create, will open windows of opportunity and instill in them the excitement that comes when you have a dream and realize that you actually have the ability to achieve it.
A quality arts education can make a dramatic difference in the lives of young people.
